1,000 drivers 100 cars 10 countries

L3Pilot is the first large-scale comprehensive pilot test of automated driving functions of SAE Level 3 and 4 on public roads across Europe. All major European automotive manufacturers, suppliers and research institutions have joined forces to prepare a testing environment for large-scale field tests in series cars following the L3Pilot project.

The technologies being tested cover a wide range of driving situations, including parking, overtaking on highways, and driving through urban intersections. These tests will provide valuable data for evaluating the technical aspects and overall impact of automated driving on traffic and society. L3Pilot is particularly concerned with user's perspectives on automated driving, studying user acceptance and their driving and travel behaviours. L3Pilot partners will define a set of rules for system engineering and safety validation of automated systems, captured in a Code of Practice for Automated Driving.
